At the PDWRA, pugs are surrendered to the charity weekly and we rescue hundreds each year. Given the amount of pugs that come into our care, it’s not surprising that they come in varying conditions of health and at all different ages.
With that in mind, we always like to ask that anyone thinking of adopting a pug considers the possibility of giving a happy home to older as well as younger pugs. It’s true, of course, that the time you get to spend together may not be as long with an older pug, but the joy that they will bring into your life while they are able to share it will be immense. Older pugs still have so much love to give and deserve a second chance every bit as much as younger pugs do!

Some of the adoption stories that we feature brilliantly highlight wonderful examples of people who have made the decision to give a home to older pugs and the joy that they have brought into their lives. We hope you enjoy reading them as much as we have and that you might feel inspired to adopt an older pug of your own!
